WASHINGTON.—Probably for the first time in the history of the country the value of imports of agricultural products in * the United States has exceed 'd ihe value of exports, the United States Departin' today stated in cultural import ures for the year ending June oU, 1923. Agricultural Imports, in cluding forest products, during the period covered were valued at $-V 315,000,000 as compared with ex ports valued at $1,927,000,000. The increase is due chiefly to tiic in creased value of imports, although there was also a decrease in the value of agricultural exports, the department says. Imports and export figures, in cluding forest products, for com parative years were as follows: 1922-23 .. $2,315,000,000 $1, tli Imports, 1922-23, $2,315,000,900; exports, $1,927,000,000 t Imports, 1021-22, $1,535,000,000* :ports, $2,0G9,000,CD0. Imports, 1913-14, $921,000,000; exports, $1,114,000,000. arlicr years the excess of value of exports over * imports w* 5 even greater thftn in recent years, the department pointed out. In 1902, for example, the value of agricultural epxorts was more than double the agricultural im ports.
