WASHINGTON.—Heat and storms have been
the direct or indirect can es of twenty-one deaths
and hundreds of minor casualties in the east and
middle west during the past twenty-four hours.
Nine persons were drowned in Wisconsin. Ex
treme heat took four lives in Chicago. Two per
sons died from the same cause in Cleveland, and
one in Worchcster, Ohio; Lightning killed two in
Iowa. A storm caused the’ death of one woman in
Omaha. Philadelphia and Pittsburgh each re
ported one death.
