As (or the leguutora known as
"aatl'a"—those who profess to be
unalterably against a great public
indebtedness for any purpoa* what
erer, they see it this way:
Because Governor Walker in
hia official proclamation, or rath
er in the etatement which he Is
sued conjointly with the procU-
matlou, has decUred that no tag
measure would corns up bpfore the
extraordinary session, and because
he failed to Include a tax proposal
to the official call, there U "prac-

Paul Doyal, representative of.
Floyd county, has stated that
the governor "baa practically de
stroyed any possibility ot our ac
compliuhing anything at the ex

their belief, pointing out that In-

Recognition of Loyalty
An important feature In the
letter is where Mr. Warfield
states, under the heading "A
Recognition of Loyalty,” that
“20,000 shares of atock will be of
fered those officials and other* ot

below the rank of President (who

frained from opportunities offered
for Individual investment In Flori-
da lands because of the unwritten
purpose of those having' intimate
relations with land purchases and
with the railroad to do nothing
which might interfere with tho
railroad securing the requisite
property for its purposes at thc
lowest obtainable cost." Preal-
dent Warfield had stated in tes
timony before the Interstate Com
merce Commission on October 6,
1925, that while large opportuni
ties had been offered for hit in
dividual participation in the pur
chase of Florida lands, be hjtd
refrained aa a duty to act forthe
Seaboard alone In such matters.
The total coat of the land is
(riven at $7500,000 exclusive of
working capital and unadjusted
taxes.
