Comer Wins Madison Co. Cage Tournament

The basketball team of Comer

Madison County HIgb School
Jlasketh.ill Tournament
other four entries. Colbert High,
conqueror of Athens High;
High School; Danlelsvilie High
and'Bond Academy.
Tho games were hard fought all
the wa; and Comer had her hands
full in winning the title. A pen*
nant was presented the winning
team ns champions.
Barnett, forward of Comer High
School, was presented a trophy
after being voted the most valaa-
ble player to his team In the tour
nament.
In the first gnme of the 1926 an
nual event Colbert eliminated
Bond Academy, while in the next
game Ila smeared Danlelaville’s
hopes by a score of 18 to 14.
Comer then played and defeated
Colbert In the closest game of
the tournament, the final acore
reading 13 to 12. This game was
the fastest and fiercest
tourney, the result being-in doubt
up to the last whistle.
Corner then met 11a In the finals
and defeated the 11a team by a
score of 16 to 6.
In the play-off game for third
place Colbert struck her stride and
rode to victory over Danlelarllle.
The score in this game was 40
to 17.
The tournament was held at llo
this ycur. It is an annual event
and the hard, fought games always
attract big crowds. Tho 1926 af
fair was the most successful which
lias been held.
