failed to show any visible author-
ty badges, held up Ben T. Epps
in Gwinnett county a few nights
ago under the pretense of looking
for whiskey runners.
According to <Mr. Epps who ir
one. of the best known citizen*: of
Athens, he was coming bac!; from
Atlanta and passed an automobile
that was parked on the roadside

KEY WEST, Fla.—(AP)—The devastating fury
of the tropical storm which swppt the South Florida
coast Saturday morning has transformed Miami
Beach and Miami into a desolated Venice, with
streets inundated, buildings wrecked, light and
power gone and untold property damage. ; :i
Word received here Saturday night from tho
devastated area said the entire city of Miami Beach
is flooded with three feet - of water. Many buildings
were blown down by the 90 mile an hour gale which
paralyzed all the light and power system' Miami
proper is believed to have suffered considerable
damage also. The causeway connecting the two
