The Y. W. C. A. Camp as it Is
conducted through the summer
seanon, 'represents a splendid
cross-section of the work of the
Y. w. C. A. in the community.
The Y. W. C. A. is an organiza
tion made up of women and girls
in the community and Includes all
ages in its activities program.
Each group spending even
night at camp is chaperoned by
some member of the iloard of Di
rectors and her husband. ' This
la in accordance with the policy
of the Board, adopted when tile
camp was first opened. The Board
of Directors, elected by the mem
bers of the Asosciation, is com
posed of representative women of
all of the churches of Athens, in
cluding both business and home
1 women, grandmothers and mothers
of young children- Due to the
illness of Mrs. A. 8. Parker, who
hag been the very efficient and
much Jloved president for four
years. Mrs. J. D. Bradwell, vice-
president, is now acting president
and lias tho chief responsibility
for the development and promo
tion of the camp.
Tho camp season will open Sat
urday. Juno 16th. with an encamp
ment for the business girls of tho
city, who represent a large and
enthusiastic part of the Y. w. C.

Another large part of the work
of the Y. W. C. A. Is the work
with the school girls. Clubs of
Girl Reserves are organized In the
high school, Childs Street school
and the high school of the State
Teachers College, and a three-fold
program for the development of
the minds bodies and spirits of
the girls Is* promoted throughout
tlie year. Periods for these girls
at camp ar<? always very popular,
where swimming, land sports,
clogging, otunts and singing form
a large part of their program.
A new venture of the T. W. C.
A. this past year was in the or-
ganizatlon of the little Blue Bird
Club, for little girls from eight
to ten years of age. These chil
dren have met weekly since their
organisation and are most enthus
iastic. A period at camp is being
provided for them also and all
indications are that It will be a
very pan"***** »v«rind.
In addition to the regular week
or ten-day periods, several week
ends have been set aside for group
of younger business girls. Groups
of girls from the Climax Hosiery
Mills, Athens Manufacturing Com.
pany, and Southern Manufacturing
Company, will each have a week-
end at camp and all the girls are
eagerly looking forward to the
outing.
For all of the camps, In add!-
tlon to the chaperones, the com
plex camp staff will be on hand
to set that everyone has the best
possible time while at camp. Miss
Laura Powers will be the director
of the camp for the full season
and will be assisted by Miss Clyde
Aligood. who will have charge of
the swimming; Miss Elisabeth

be the camp musician; Mill
Frances Crane, who will supervise
all land sports Including achery,
baseball, volleyball, and gamea of
all aorta. Mlsa Crane will alao
teach clogging and folk dances.

the camp program.
