British Empire may keep their m

they have learned to lift fhelr
eyes into the air, for the airplane
has become the instrument of
high clast crooks.
Since an international forger

made whereby If the occasion
warrants London ejetectives enn
hire a plane for epeciai service.
This was the second attempt
made by criminals to use air
planes In England. The first
failed when the suspect was haul
ed out of the cockpit of a piano
at Croydon just as he was about
to wing hla way to the continent
and safety. The use of the air
plane by the crook already men
tioned eaved him from capture,
for by the time the police had
been notified by the victimised
banks and had collated a descrip
tion of the criminal and broad

The Britiah Empire is making
considerable use of the airplane

larly in ita use of the plane in
military policing. The royal air
force outlying stations are moro
particularly flying military police
stations.. In Iraq, for instance,
airplanes reinforce' armored cars
in keeping the desert tribes, the

Two 'million dollars worth of dia

been on -board the Belgian steam

definitely reported as “missing.”
Th* Italian divers who have
successively explored the captain’s

quite eure whether they were in
the hulk of the Elisabethvllie or.
not. A temporary captain loaded
them aboard In Belgian Congo and

ship’s regular captain at Bordeaux
and at that time the diamonds
were in the postal safes.
The regular captain, the only
man who really knew where the
