SPEED COPINA
QUANDARY WHEN
HE STOPS CAR
OF FIRE CHIEF |
One motoreycle traffic po
liceman was confronted with
a difficult task Friday after-'
noon when he held up the new
car of Fire Chief D. A. Wat
son for “speeding.”
The new car was being tried
out by A. E. Davison, chair
man of she finance commit
tee of city council; Roy Wil
son, chairman of the civil
servica commission; Fire
Chief Watson and ‘E. B. Co
hen, local Buick dealer. Ed
Cohen was at the wheel, and
since the car which carries
" Chief Watson to fires must be
pretty good a: making time,
the conncilman decided to see
what “she could do.” “She”
could do a lot, and the police
man, ‘n line of duty, stopped
the car. Confronted with his
suparior officers, Councilmar
Davison and Commissioner
Wilson, the policeman asked
what he must “do.” = The re
ply was “do what ‘you think
is right.” o
After pondering the mat
ter, and taking into consider
ation the fact that the car of
the Fire Chief is usually ex
empt from speed laws, and
the offcials were testing it,
the policeman passed up the
case. The new car is said to
be a humdinger.
