the tires will be dropped from an
1 airplaneras it flies over.
A reguler six ply Mifrray tire
taken from the stock of one of
the stores operated by Johnson Oil
Company, and selected by some
one of the city officials of Athens,
t will be mounted on a regular Ford
wheel “and inflated to 35 pounds
pressure. This tire will be drop
ped from a height of 2,000 feet.
In the drop to the earth the tire
and wheel will attain a speed of
300 miles per hour and both will
strike the ground with a force
equivalent to 70,000 pounds, caus
ing the tire to bounce upwards of
’from 100 to 200 feet. It can readily
'be seen ‘how severe a test this is
of the quality of Murray products
and the fact that the tire can
stand such a test is proof of its
‘supreme value, L
The demonstratoin is being
sponsored by Johnson Oil Com
pany of Athens, who are exclusive
distributors of Murray tires in
Clarke county. A large crowd is
expected at this demonstration
which is open to the public and at
which no admission will be
charged.
The tire will be dropped from a
plane piloted by Mr. Ben Epps,
well known pilot of Athens.
The tire will be on display after
it is dropped, at the stores of the
Johnson Oil Company. Johnson
oil Company are distributors of
Woco-Pep gasoline and Tioline oil
