anchor of Flanders Field poppies,
fashioned by Miss Moina Michael,
of Athens, Ga., known throughout
the world as “the Poppy Lady”
because she originate 1 the idea of
the poppy as the memorial lower
for the boys who lost their lives
in the World War, was dropped
Friday from an airplane into Ches
apeake Bay, near the Naval Acad
emy at Annapolis.

mean tenperature in excess of the
average for gixty-seven years and
pringing mere rain than usually.
The average mean temperature
for May. according to E. S. Sell,
cooperative observer for the U.
S. Weather Bureaun, is 69.8, while
the mean temperature last month
was 71 degrees. The maximum
temperature was 91 degrees On
May 4, 5 and 16th. The minimum
was 49 degrees, May 31. The total
rainfall was 438 as against the
average of 3.66 inches for May, an
excess of .72, )
