OPEN MIND URGED
ON MEDICAL MENMN
ON ADVERTISING
CHICAGO.—(AP)—The retiring
president of the Chicago Medical
society, Dr. James H. Hutton,
helieves “medical -men should
open their minds about advertis
ing.”
Addressing the' society last
night, Dr. Hutton urged an inves
tigation by physicians of adver
tising possibilities.
“Important sections of organ
ized American medicine,” the re
tiring -president said. “have at
gacked advertising as an evil for
medicine. 71\is has been due, I
now believe, to lack of compre
‘hension or lack of information or
maybe both. Advertising in -its
proper forms has proven itself to
be one of the greatest weapons
for development and progress in
modern times.” -
Medieal men, Dr. Hutton uyrged,
should “join hands with publish
ers and advertising experts to
study the problem, learn, whether
advertising will help organized
medicine and if so, then adopt
the forms medical societies
shonld take.”
