WILLIAMS—Mr, Joseph Colum-'
bus Williams died Tuesday
morning, June 23, 1931, at his
regidence on the Monroe Road
at 9:20 o’clock after an illness
of one week. He was 76 years
of age. He was a member of
the Statham Leodge of Masons
and the Mt. Carmel Methodist
church. Mr. Williams is sur
vived by his widow, Mrs. Susie
Williams, one daughter, Mrs. R.
L. Pinion, of Bogart, Ga., and
one son, Mr, F. L. Williams, of
Atlanta, Ga.; also eight grand
children survive him. The fun
_eral was today, Wednesday af
ternoon, June 24, 1931, from the
Mt. Carmel Mettodist chureh inf
Walton county at three o’clock.
Rev. N. O. L. Powell, pastor of

of two Greenfield girls shifted to
the farming community Wednes
day after poison ‘powder was
fohnd in a well at the Thomas
Martin farm home.
Discovery of the polluted well
was the first major development
in the poison mystery since the
death at a Lebanon, Ind., picnic
last Sunday of Virginia, 13, and
Jean, 10, davghters of Mr., and
Mrs. John Simmong of Greenfield,
eight miles north of Pleasant
view,
Capsules containing the poison
had been placed in sandwiches
eatén at the picnic,

a large family, discovered the
