THREE BULLDPOGS
PICKED BY LYLE ON
ALL-STATE QUINTET
sT R AT A A R I
b VALCO LYLE
The writer in conjunction with
other sports editors of the state
has picked a first and second all
state basketball team. The selec
tiong are being publisheda Wed.-
nesday.
The picks of all the editors
were compiled by Dillen Graham,
Southern regional sports editor
of the Associated Press and the
composite teams picked there
from.
The writer is giving below his
gelections, without having seen
the final choices. Perhaps it
might interest some to Know just
now far we missed the final selec
tions—or perhaps how close we
came to geiting them right,
The selections follow:
irsw Toeam—Forwards, Gooding,
Tech, Moran, Georgia; centér,
Strickland, Georgla; guards,
Young, CGeorgia, MacArthur, Tech.
Second Team—Forwards, Wilkes,
Mercer, Katz, Tech; center, Per
kins, Tech: guards, Smith, Geor-
Leroy Young, junior Georgia
guard, was picked to captain the
téam becaunsé of his aggressive
ness, his aility to shoot, and his
coolness in the thick of battle.
It was a hard matter to pick
MacArthur of Tech over Catfish
Smth of Georgia. Beoth are good
kuards, but MacArthur perhaps is
a faster floor man and as good a
shot.
