J. H. Pledger Dies
Near Athens Today;
" Waslll Two Weeks
l . James H. Pledger, 72, one of
I Clarke = county’s oldest citizens,
died at his home on the Princeton
road, near Athens, Wednesday, at
10:10 a.m. The funeral services
will be held in the Princeton Meth
odist church at a date to be an
| nounced later.
‘Rev. Parks Seagraves, Methodist
minister, will officiate. Interment
will be in the Princeton cemeterys
with Bernstein Brothers in charge.
Mr. Pledger, who had lived in this
eounty all of his life, had been il
two weeks.
He is survived by three daugh
ters, Miss Rosa Pledger, Mrs,
Sherley Bardon and Mrs.. W. P
Dillard: four sons, R. A. Plede

ney, 63, former Athenian who died
at Spartanburg, S. C, Tuesday,
will be held in the Prospect
‘Methodist church, in Jackson
county, Thursday at 3 p. m.
. Rev. George Stone, Methodist
‘minister will conduct the services.
Members of the Attica Masonic
lodge will act as pallbearers. In.
terment will be in the Prospect
cemetery, with McDorman-Bridges
in charge.
i Mr. Kenney was a resident of
‘Athens for a number of years. He
was a past worshipful master of
the Attica IL.odge of Masons, and
attended the Mt. Vernon Lodge
here for a number of years, and
was well-known in Masenic cir
cles. :
Mr. Kenney died in his office in
Spartanburg early Tuesday morn
ing from g heat attack. He was a
shipping clerk in the Powell>Knit
.ting company, after leaving Ath
'ens three and a half years ago.
Surviving Mr. Kenney are his
wife; seven daughters, Mrs. Loyad
Bradeér, Spartanburg; Mrs, John
‘Wood, Greenville, S. C.; Misses
Lottie, Hazel, Susie, Bobbie and
Bell Kinney, all of Spartanburg;
two sons, Harry Kenney, Athens,
aand C. M. Kenney, Augug{a; two
sigters, Mrs. John W. Hale, and
‘Mrs. J. F, Halé, of Athens; two

| The funeral of D, W. Paul, 81,
who died at his home in Ogle
thorpe county Wednesday morn
ing, will be held at the graveside
of the Bueckhalter family ceme
tery Thursday at 4:00 p.m.
The 'Rev. Mr. Brown, Baptist
minister, will conduct the services,
Mr. Paul, who was well known in
\Athéns, had lived in Oglethorpe
county all of his life. He was ill
two weeks prior to his death.
Surviving Mr. Paul are three
daughters, Mrs. Arthur McHannon,
Mrs, E. C. McHannon and Mrs. W.
