LUDEN’S STAGE BIG
ADVERTISING DRIVE
- ON SECRET FORMULA
For thirty-five years, Luden's
Menthol Cough Drops have been
credited with bringing quick relief
to troubled throats. From a small
beginning, the demand for Luden®s
has grown until now Luden’s are
being sold in virt@lly eyery civi
lized country in the world and by
more than a miliion retail outlets In
America. - e
Back of this impressive public
acceptance has been a very specific
product-advantage found .only In
Luden’s it is the fact that Luden’s
are compounded from a “secret for
mula” of recognized medicated In
gredients-that Luden’s really is a
cough and cold ‘prescription.’”?
Luden’s’ announce there has
been ‘no change in the “secret for
mula.” It remains the same as
since it was originally compound
ed, in Luden’s scientific laoratory
Eut, this season, Luden’s are stag
ing the largest advertising cam
paign in the fifty years of their
manufacturing history, featuring
this formula and stressing the im
portance and effectiveness of Its
medical properties, each having re
cognition tin the TUnited States
Pharmacopoeia, for its purity ana
potency.
“Being the only cough drop that
has this ‘secret formula” a state
ment from Luden’s announced, “we
believe the general public should
know about its medical properties,
so as not to confuse Luden’s with
ordinary cough drops. We have de
cided that newspaper advertising is
the logical way to publicize this ex
clusive formula and, therefore, we
are using more newspaper space
this year and next, than ever be
fore in Luden’s long history—a di
rect iribute to the value of mews
paper advertising. Actually Luden’s
newspaper appropriation has been
inereased more: than.ssoo per cent
over last year.”
