WBO CAN VOTE.
The question lias lieen frequently ask*
ed us how long a residence in the state
or county is necessary to vote. Below
we give the law upon the subject that
every person desiring to vote may do so
intelligently and legally:
“Every male citizen of the United
States, except as hereinafter provided,
twenty one years of age, who shall have
resided in this stale one year ne <t pro
ceeding the election and shall have re
sided six months in the county in
which lie offers to vote, and shall have
paid all taxes, which since the adoption
of the constitution of 1877, have been re
quired previous to the year in which he
offers to vote, etc.
Tlie exceptions above referred to are
1st. “Those who have been convicted
in any court of competent juris
diction, of treason, of emliezzlenicnt
of tlie public funds, malfeasance
in office, hriliery, or larceny, or of any
crime involving moral turpitude, pun
ishable by tlie laws of tills slate with
imprisonment in the penitentiary, unless
such person shall li.we been pardoned.

On the subject of residence, the law is
that the domicil of a person of full age is
the place where liis family permanently
resides, and if lie lias no lamily, then tlie
place where lie sliali generally lodge,

panied by an avowed intention of re
maining^
Married men who live here over, six
mouths, but whose families lire in an
other county, cannot vore in tliiscoun-
ty. .Single men who reside here for that
time, cannot vote here unless they avow
their intention of remaining here.

ens. . liis life has not been very check
ered, nor has lie ever been frozen out

many of our statesmen who now ring

tied in the solitude of his own origi-'
nality. We mean the little wooden
boy in front of Long’s drug store.

gentleman of Gainesville, who says that'
it is now thought that Gwinnett will go
for Candler by 800 to 1200 majority. He
is about solid there. The same glorions

Polling Wagoners.—Yesterday nine
wagoners and eleven men rolled into
town from Morgan county. One of Ce
