SjjrJSfiutjjtrn'garaicr Athens, Ga., October 11,1881. j. re. 'W'-A.TS’.u.MA.isr, PROPRIKlVM. LOCAL INTELLIGENCE. . Oar Mineral Spring. Alliens is a little city, but it is a little city of many attractions. Its climate is naturally most salubrious. Freo stone water of limpid purity and delightful coolness is abundant. In the winter the weather is “ not too cold—just cold enough and in the summer the heated days rre forgotten when the refreshing breezes oi our high latitude fan the labor-wearied Athenian, as he is under the gentle influence of tired nature's sweet re storer. No rival of ours among the sister cities of Georgia can boast of so many and such magnificent natural shade- trees as those which cast tboir grate ful shadows across the lawns, and around the pleasant homes ot our peo ple. Our drives are varied and most enjoyable. There is, however, advantage belonging to Athens, more beneficent in character, and so little known abroad, as our mineral spring. The principal spring bubbles forth near the foot of a lolly and grass, covored embankment of the North eastern railroad. When the public spirited convicts, to whom much ot our prosperity is due, in grading that high way, deflected the waters of “ Moore’s branch” from their an cient channel, the mineral spring in troduced itself to the Athenian pub lic. I low long it had mingled its life-giving stream with the more com mon volume of the historic branch, the oldest inhabitant lias not informed us. Certain it is that the FerrosLith- ic Spring, as it was christened, (in its own water perhaps,) by the scientists of ihe city, achieved immediate local popularity. Hundreds of people dai ly drank from its supply. Many are t he notable cures it has effected. Ner vous troubles, indigestion, dyspepsia, gouty and rheumatic twinges and other “ ilia that flesh is heir' to” are its easy victims. Georgia is much indebted to this unpretending foun tain for the relief it has brought to some of her most distinguished sons. Its water is a tonic of unquestionable strength and effectiveness, and our readers would be interested to know how mauy daily visit, and how many habitually drink this most excellent medication of water. The spring is at present prettily shaded by a grove ot forest trees, and the city authorities have made some needed improvements there. We re gret to see that the seats and steps for the comfort of the public are sad ly out of repair, and if there is noth ing in tho constitution and by-laws to prevent it, it would be salutary to fence out the hogs and other small deer who do not appreciate the heal ing qualities of our fountain of youth. Health and Beamy Combined. Woman’s Eights.—One who has long studied this subject now presents the result of his investigations. He is happy to say that he has discovered Woman’s Best Friend.’ It is adapt ed especially to those cases where the womb is disordered, and will cure any irregularity of tho ’ * menses.’ Brad- field’s Female Regulator acts like a charm in ‘whites,’ or a sudden check of the 1 monthly courses,’ from cold, trouble of miud or like causes, by restoring the discharge in every in stance. In chronic cases its action is prompt and decisive, and saves the constitution from countless evils and S remature decay. Prepared by Dr. . Bradfield, Atlanta, Ga. For sale at 81.50 per bottle by all druggists. Milltown, Chambers Co., Ala., July 13, 1877. I have used your Female Regulator extensively in my practice for a long time, and with entire success where there was no complication of disease. If it is not a specific, it is, in my opins ion, the best known remedy for the diseases for which it is recommended. Iar4-lm. J. H. Davis, M. D. BRIGHT’S DISEASE and other affections of the Kidneys and Bladder are sometimes brought on and often aggravated by the neg lect of the symptoms, which, if taken in time, would no doubt in a majority of cases yield to treatment. No med icine is so well suited for this as Ran kin’s Compound Extract Buchu and Juniper. It is a reliable healing tonic to the parts, qilays irritation, and restores healthy action. Prepared only by Hunt, Rankin & Lamar, Druggists, Atlanta, Ga., and for sale by all Druggists. Forsytii, Ga., Die. 1, 1877.—I have sold Rankiu’s Buchu and Juniper for 10 years, and it ’'as always given universal satisfaction, proving the most valuable preparatiou of the kind on the market. F. O. Mays, Druggist. jan-4-lm. Columbus, Ga., April 12,1S78. Dr. O. J. Moffett—Dear Sir:— My wife and myself are satisfied that the life of our teething babe was saved by tho use of your Teelhina (Teething Powders), when other remedies had failed to relieve him. We have been delighted with the Sjwedy and permanent relief given one of our children from severe at tack of Cholera Jt.irbus. Teelhina is indispensable to us, and should be kept by all parents having small chil dren. Respectiully, etc., JESSE B. WRIGHT. Foreman Enquirer-Sun. March8-lm. Walton brought to the city this morning a beautiful oird, somewhat resembling a snipe, but no one who saw it could teil the name of it. It had greenish tinted feathers, flecked with white, a sharp yellow bill, long green legs, with very long tees. It was evidently a water bird, was very lively, and was rather tame It was caught in a field about five miles in the'eountry. Wo should be glad to know what it is. Sudden Death. We learn that Rev.
