W. Long, A Co., [Uonirauoit-atrd.l The Advantage of Being a Woman. Madison County, Ga , f May 3d, 1878. \ Dr. H. H. Carlton—Dear Sir : 1 saw in your last issue of the Banner a piece under the above heading, and I have been studying of the advantages of being a woman and the power she has over brutal mar.* Who is it that, when man is raving with madness can speak one word and quell his wrath and subdue his temper and bring him again to kind- ness ? The very echoes will answer, woman—lovely woman, sweet wo man. What would man do without woman ? Oh ! he would do nothing hut steal, i-iirder and rob. Who is it that man would die for? Won.an Who is it that man loves dearer than any thing rn earth ? Woman. Wo man is the chief concern of man’s exist mice. She is his thought by day and his dream by night.^ She i- Iiis talk at church and hall. She is his hope. She i« his thought. She is his prayer. She is his all. Now since wonutn is so dear to man let him pau-e hereto think hi w lonely hisho.-e :md collate wtiold ht^jvil’. - suffering than at i ls there, with woman, and woman alone. Man is not what God intended him for without a woman. It wa* intended by an omnipotent God that woman w'as to be a companion, a help mate and by her to make this sublunary gphete a blissful paradise. Woman has it iu her power to make earth a heaven or hell. Oh, lovely 'woman, let nte entreat you most mcicifulty to make it a lieaten. Oh, how happy woman ought to be to think and know’ she exerts such power over ui:m. The very flowers strive to look g;ty in her sight. The birds seem to sing sweeter when she is near. And now why should she not strive to make all around her happy. It ie, we know, within her power. Lip* of love, oh, me the blessing, What, but for their sweet caressing, Ware thiB tear-stained world of ours', Lips of love have soothed the wean , Lius of love have blessed the dreary, Making life’s wild pathway cheery With sweet smiles and sunny hours. We should strive hard to make those sweet, faces wear those sweet smiles they have now. We should remember woniai. is of love and it takes love to keep them alive ; they are like unto vine tendrils, they art- always looking out for something to cling to, and that something is big, ugly mail. Oh, h:ippy man who possesses ti e hear! of a true woman. S.
