ViT- STERIOXTS STEAM COOKEEa PATENTED JULY 16TI1, *872. | It is the most complete arrangement for cooking I on a large or small scale, ever invented. I Meats, Vegetables, Pcdmngs, Rice, &c. j Arc thoroughly cooked by steam, without tutu- | glingthe flavors; and iverul ditferent kinds of i food tn.iy be cooked at one time, and only oc cupy one hole of the stove. It can be used on any cooking stove, range or furnace with per fect sue. ess. Eacli section is separate in doing ils cooking— all the different sections being suj- plic.l with steam direct from the boiler. Most of the steam is condensed, therefore but little escapes into the room, and but little odor. Only a few quarts of water cook fora family, ; thereby saving fuel and tlie excess o, kitchen j iieut, especially in sninmer. It performs like a j charm on a gas stove. ! The superior excellent* • and hcnlthfulness of 1 steam-cooked food need only a lev.- trials to satisfy all. I A supply of water being kept in the boiler, ! tli • food cannot be burnt; needs no careful | watching as ordinarily, and may be kept ho. j for hour.- when needed, without burning, dry j ing, or loss of flavor. Steamed p-ot-pies arc I simply delicious; and lorncd-beef, potatoes, | dumplings, puddings, onions, parsnips, etc., 1 are cooked at the same time without mixing I flavors in the :east. It is ju.-t the thing to pre pare fruit for calming or oiiier purposes. No dirty pots or kettles; No filling the room with steam tin 1 odor from food; no heating o rooms iu summer whan they should ha kept cool; no burnt food when not carefully watch ed ; tlie food kept ready and warm for hours ; and the saving in care, labor and fuel in o.ic season will pay the co.-i of a Cooker, to say nothing of the vzeelleuce and heaithiulucss of the cooking. Very little s'cauaescnpes, there fore all the flavor and richness is retained, and this very feature gives universal satisfaction. It saves_ one-sixth of everything, compared with boiling or roasting or baking in the or dinary way It docs not need half tac atten tion to cook as by any other method. It cannot destroy or injure the food by burn ing or neglect. It furnishes more palatable aud nutritions food. It saves the handling oi num erous cumbersome iron pots. It furnishes tiie most simple and perfect method of cooking by steam. It cooks meats and vegetables so as to retain tlicir original flavor. TAYLOR, the only authorized Cheap Cora and no Money—A Gentlemanly Feeling —A Hacked up ImU-pcndenrt—Wliy Some Men •* Stand.” [Special Correspondence to the Constitution.] Mr. Editor : I’ve just taken an other lesson in farmin’. The travelin’ thrash has been along, and for two days things Yvere lovely iu these parts ; I liked it. I always did have a fondness for machinery and things that saY’e some of the labor. I wouldent object if them Yankees in vented something to save it all, and I believe they’ll do it some of these days. The travelin’ thrash made an impres sion on me and my folks. It was like an epysoad in an oasis or some thing of that sort. It cum up the road like a circus or a managerry, and we could almost see the monkeys peepin’ out of the big red cage .that they call a separator. The concern struck camp right in front of the house in the -middle of a big wheat field, vnd in a few minutes eight mules were jerkin’ around the mule power, aud the music begun. I say music, for I always did like the buzz of su h things. It lias a harmonizin’ effect, and for a time keeps down al! 1 competition. I remember there was a man somewhere flowrt the country who tried to stop another man from putting up a planing mill close to him. He was atcerd the buzz o! it would disturb his j'amiiy in their evenin’ naps, and so he applied to the judge to injunct it. But the judge couldent see it in that light; aud so he carried the case up to the shupreme court and the Chief justice couldent see it. He remarked that you might as well try to stop old comes along every time when we get ready to plow, and then we have to wait lor the ground to dry*. Old Peckerwood remarked that it was the rainyiat time he ever experienced, and he reckoned somebody must have hung up a power of dead snakes this spring. If these good seasons con tinue, there will be corn enough made fur another small war, and I’m afeerd it won’t bring more than 25 cents a bushel. If everybody had a little money we would all be comfortable, for tilings we have to buy are pow erful cheap. But that’s the.trouble, and we noticed for thirty years that when the things I wanted were cheap as dirt I didn’t have a cent to buy with. I do believe it is better to have a pocket full of poor money and let things be high, ter there is com fort in fi-' !in’ ot it even tlio it aint worth much. When it took a hun dred dollars in “ confec” to buy a pound of tobacker I feit sorter like a gentleman, if I had the money ; but now I feel ns mean as a yalh-r d jg when my assetts gi'.s down to half a dollar.
