I understand, would have been replied to" on Monday v bat for the fact ho Rucker addressed the citizens of this county, for one hour and more, in reply to Mr. Speer, in which lime he completely dt monstrated the fact that Mr. Speer’s position wa3 wrong all the way through, that he was fighting now the very convention system that he had.struggled long and hard to be nominated tinder. He also read from the Noted Memo~ rial, of which Mr. Speer claims to be the daddy of, in which it appears that Mr. Spe ar charged the people ol Oconee of the most flagrant brutsdiiy. In that they would not, for love or money, allow visiting attorneys or other citizens to come into their liouscs, even to sleep at night—that others than those who lived in the immediate community, would have to ride or walk through the mud and cold to their homes, or else pitch tents in the Court House yard, dur ing the night, and get something to eat as best they could. No doubt Mr. Speer treated the people of this part of the county, at that time, very unkindly. The bitter wrongs prac ticed by him in former days are still green ami fresh in the memory of the good people of Oconee. Such gross charges as he made against us are not to be blotted out in a day. \Ye had a most excellent rain hist night, and everybody w feeling invich better, though l fear the rain come too late to do the corn much good. Good Digestion.—“ Give us this day our daily bread” and pood medi cine to digest it, is both reverent and human. The human stomach and liver aie fruitful sources of life’s comforts ; or disordered and diseased, they tingle miser j along every nerve ami through every artery. The mai» or woman with good digestion see beauty as they walk, and overcome obstacles they’meet in the routine oi life, where the dispeptic sees only gloom and stumbles and growls at even imaginary objects. The world still needs two or three new kinds of medicine before death can be perfectly abolished ; but that many lives have been prolonged, and many sufferers from Liver disease, Dbpepsia and Headache, have been cured by Mor rell’s Ilepatine, is no longer a doubt. It cures Headache in twenty minutes, and there is no question but what it is the most wonderlul discoveiy made in medical science. Those afflicted with Biliousness and Liver Complaint should use Merrcll's Ilepatine. it can be hud at Dr. C. W. Long & Co., I»rl«!c« ltcduced. A Gentle Hint.—In our style oi climate, with its sudden changes of temperature—rain, wiud and sunshine often intermingled in a single day—it is no wonder that our children, friends and relatives are so frequently taken from VjS by neglected colds, half the deaths resulting directly from this cause. A bottle of Boschee’s GermaD Syrup kept about your home for im mediate use will prevent serious, sick ness, a large doctor’s hill, and perhaps death, hy the use of three or four doses. P.
