The heated term left Xc»' Eng land ns follows, according to a Bos ton paper: At lul two Fahrenheit* blew t>p, And killed two children small, And one Barometer ahot dead A tutor with ita bull. It is very depressing to a summer congregation to see the minister, in the most eloquent and impassioned passage of his sermon, gesture with One hand and tight, flies with the other. “May the Lord preserve your eye rght,” said a beggar-woman to a man with a small nose, who had just given her a gratuity. “Why?” he asked. “Because,” said she “you’ve no nose to hold jour spectacles.” Did the prophet Isiah ever eat at railroad station ? It certainly looks S"', for how could he have described it so literally if lie had not. “And he shall snatch on the right hand and be hungry; and lie shall eat on the left hand, and shall not be satisfied. Too bad !—A newly married gen tleinan of M rs. J—’s acquaintance on being asked the other daj’, what was the difference between a bride and bridegroom, imuudiatcly replied “Why, one is givin awtv, and the other sold.” Frank and Willie, were discussing which were the most economical, melt or women ; and Frank seemed to he getting the best of the argu ment, when Willie sudden!)’ brought the argument to a dose by saying, “One thing I know ; my father can make a piece of butter go over ntorc’n twice as large a piece of bread for me as mother can.’’ “Atrab, Pat, and why did I marry ye? Jist toll me that; for it’s tnrsclf that’s had to maintain ye iver since the blessed day that Father O’Flani gan sint me hunt to yer house.” “Swale jewel,” replied Pat, not rel ishing the charge, “an’ it’s nteself that hopes I may live to see the day vou’re a widow wrping over the cold sod that kivers me—thin, by St. Patrick, I’ll see bow you get along without me honey.” A parly of men were standing to gether telling war yarns. One of them related a great adventure which happened to him while in Virginia. When he concluded, a tail, lank stranger said to him : “Well, mister, you was a colonel, then, wasn’t you?’’ The other replied, "No, sir, I was a private and always have been.’’ Thereupon the stranger took off his hat, and with a tear in each eye crossed over and extending his hand, said, “Well, mister, God bless you, old fellow, there ain’t lmt two of us left,” hship s.m smumssLAs&mss list. The stom ach is affected with loss of appetite and sickness; the bowels in general are costive, sometimes alternative with lax; the head is troubled with pain, accompanied with a dull, heavy sen sation in the back part. There is gen erally a considerable loss of memory, accompanied with a painful sensation of having left undone something which ought to have been done. A slight, dry cough is sometimes an attendant. The patient complains of weariness and debility; he is easily startled, his feet are cold or burning, and he com plains of a prickly sensation of the skin; his spirits are low; and although he is satisfied that exercise would be beneficial to him. yet he can scarcely summon up fortitude enough to try it. In fact, he distrusts every remedy. Several of the above symptoms attend the disease, but cases have occurred where few of them existed, yet exam ination of the body, after death, has shown the uver to have been exten sively deranged.
