FRAT. LEAGUE CUP
Tho Knppa Alpha fraternity at the
University of eGorgta wdn tho Inter-
fratomlty chnmplonshlp at that In
stitution this week by defeating the
PI Kappa Plil fraternity. Fourteen
fraternities entered teams and sev
eral of the fraternities had unusually
,strong nines. Perhaps the Phi Delta
Theta team waa the best coached and
talned of all the teams and It looked
once ns If they might annex the
championship. The Alpha Tan Omega
fratornlfy also had a strong team.
The Kappa Alpha team owes their
victory In no small measure to "Pete"
Bennett, of Quitman, tho offldent cap
tain. Bennett was a star outfielder
with the Quitman High school team
which was' declared to be the heat
team In Bouth Georgia. Another
south Georgian who wa* a valuable
asset to the K .A. team was "Dccarr”
Simms of Valdosta, formerly with the
Valdosta “Parrots." Simms held
down third base In a most efficient
manner. Others on the Kappa Alpha
nlno are "Psylho" Mahoney, "Hook"
Davis. Dan Post, "Son' Wheaton, and
‘‘Jimmie" Spicer. Spicer pitched the
winning game and showed imusuul
skill.
Tho Kappa Alpha fraternity has
been presented with a handsome sliver
loving 'cup by tho Pan-Hellenic coun
ell of tbo university, the coveted cup
that the fraternities worked so hard
to get. Bach fraternity at the uni
versity contributed toward tho pur
chase of the cup and It waa to be
awarded to the winning team.
