June 3.—While no of ficial Information r has been received to that effect, It ts understood the Georgia Railroad commission expects the city of Augusta, through Its coun sel, to participate in defending the order of the commission which the Augusta-Alken Rnllway nnd Electric corporation has asked the United States court to enjoin. It in under stood that the city of Augusta cannot Intervene in the case as it now stands, but city officials will, it is ex pected, aid materially in preparing tlio affidavits which will have to be submitted to the court ou June 5th, with the commission’s answer, and probably advise, through the city at torney. with Judge J. K. Hines, spe cial counsel for the commission. The case Is one which has highly important bearing on ait railway and electric utility rates In the state. Seaboard Reduces Rates to Atlanta Mr.- C. S. cdRipton, commercial agent of the Seaboard Air Line an nounces that effective next Sunday; and continuing through September 4, the round trip between Athens and Atlanta will be 82.16 including tax.
