Goering Attacks
Communists in
Trial at Berhin
By W. E. BROCKMAN
Aswci—ated Press Foreign Staff
BERLIN—=(#)-—A bitter denunci
dtion of Communists as ‘“murder
ers” and “beasts” was, made a’
the Reichstag arson trial Saturaay
by Herman Wiilhelm Goering
Prussian premier and nationa
minister without portfolio.
“Murder is Communism’s first
commandment”, the dapper minis
ter asserted, “Sadism has his home
lin the Communist party and cruel
ties @are nowhera so bestial as
‘when the Communists are in a po
gition to torture people.”
His charges aroused the ire of
Georgia Dimitroff, one of the fivc
alleged Communigts accused ol
firing the parliament last Feb. 27
who maintained thay German po
lice did nothing to trace possible
iperpetm,tors other than men they
’thought were accomplices of Mari
‘nus Van Der Lubbe, who confessed
'setting the blaze. 4
“] order you not to put such
ingolvent questions,” G o e r i n g
shouted at the Bulgarian Dimitroft
“You are a scoundrel who ough’
long ago to have been at the gal
lows for firing the Reichstag,
“You have reason enough to be
afraid when you leave the custody

Repair Pavement
- The pavement on Prinve

derman Center ot the fifth ward
made the motion, backed by a peti
tion signed by residences and busi
ness owners on that block. City
Engineer Beachagn was instruc

Petition asking a referendum on
the question of a municipal recrea
tion center was also brought before
the. council. City attorney Lamar
Rucker told Council that it was too
late for the mattexr to be advertised
for thé election December 2. The
petition ‘was turned over to Clerk
Barrow, Mr. Rucker, and City
Marshal. Ed O'Farrell -who will
check the list of names signed to
ascertain whether they are regis

‘Alderman Bedguod of the third
ward brought up the question of
pro-rating city licenses for those
businesses which do not open until
the end of the year. He explained
that Georgia Motors, Inc. is adding
a filling station to their organiza

expense of opening such an enter

pay full license when they will op

1983. 3
Mayor Dudley explained that the§
present law requiring business
houses to pay full year licenses un
less they opened during the first
part of the year was made to pro
tect permanent businesses against
fly-by-nigh¢ enterprises which gben
only during the busy months. Mr.
Rucker was asked if the bars could
legally be let daown for some en

answer was ne¢, but that it might
be done jllegally,

An objection was raised by Dr,
Heywood of the second ward to the
suggestion that the bars be let
