T here were. no chips on the table—nor on their shoulders —when Premier Tsaldaris (left) of Greece
and Furkey's Foreign Minister Ismet Pasha sat down to a friendly game of cards at the latter’s hotel
in Angora. This was their manner of relaxation after signing the Greek-Turkish pact providing for
the protection of their frontiers.

She's the nation’s newest prodigy,
but Ruth Slenczynski, the eight
vear-old pianist whom New York’s
hard boiled critics acclaimed after
her debut there, isn’t a bit affect
ed by her rise to fame. A native
of California who has received all
her training from her father, the
young celebrity showed this child
ish smile when the cameraman
came for her picture. Below is a
closeup of ‘her small, stubby
fingers which she hopes will make
her ‘“the best pianist in the

You wouldn’t pick him for a pal,
even if his name is “Chummy.”
But he hasn’t an ounce of pep,
Doc Walz, Hot Springs show
man, indicates to a Los Angeles
court, where the vigor and
length of the big python were at
issue in a suit. . Courtroom
spectators stood aghast as Doc
gave ‘‘Chummy” a near-kiss—
keeping a tight grip on his
neck, incidentally.
