being made in Athens, Toccoa, El
berton. Gainesville, Crawford, Fair
burn, Dublin, Hogansville, Forsyth,
‘Waynesboro, Stone Mountain and
Bowden.
New water purification plants
were placed in operation last yeat
in Buford, Cornelia, Macon, Por
terdale and Silvertown,
Major extensions in service
mains, storage tanks, reservoirs or
new deep wells are being provided
in Americus, Clayton, <Coolidge,
Darien, Decatur, Fort Valley, Reids
ville, Sandersville, Savannah and
Sylvania.
New sewer systems are to bae
installed for the first time {u
Monticello, Lumpkin, Chatsworth,
Smyrna, Jasper and Fishburn.,
Sewage treatment plants on
existing systems are being con
structed in Marietta, Griffin, New

School Hold Meeting
The Parent-Teacher Association
of Athens High and Industrial
school met in Knox chapel Wed
nesday evening with the president,
Mrs. Gertrude Pruitt, in charge
of the devotional exercises.
The program arranged by the
committee *in charge was present
ed ag follows: Address on the ori
gin and functions of the Parent
Teachers Association by Mra
Aaron Brown, How the parents
and teachers might help to promote
the works of the class ronm was
discussed by Principal Brown. The
parents gave a hearty response.
At thee meeting plans were made
to give some immediate help to
the school work by the parents
present. Cards will be given the
parents who are sponsoring a
drive to aid the school financially.
The next meeting of this organi
zation will be held at the same lo
catiop Wednesday, February 12,
beginning at 7 p.m. A radio pro
gram from the high school depart
