George H. Nicholson, For
mer Athens Man, Dies in
New Orleans Thursday
George H. Nicholson, 42, former
Athenian, died at his home in New
Orleans, La. yesterday morning at
¢ o'clock, after an illness of sev
eral months,
Mr. Nichtison had been living
in New Orleans for the past 2 years,
He lived in Athens many years,
where he made many friends, who
will regret to learn of his passing.
Funeral services will be held here
faturday at 11:15 o'clock, from the
graveside in Oeconee Hill cemetery,
Rev. David C. Wright, rector of
Emmanuel Episcopal church, will
officiate. Interment will be in
Oconee Hill cemetery, with Mc-
Dorman-Bridges in charge,
Pallbearers will be Dr. R. C. Wil
son, Van Noy Wier, Prof, Harold
Heckman, H. K. Nicholson, B. 8
Dußose and Julian Cox,
Survivors include the father, A.
R. Nicholson, of Augusta;, a sis
ter, Miss Josephine Nicholson, At
lanta; two brothers, Gartrell Nich
olson, Aftlanta and Paul Nicholson,
Augusta and an uncle, M. GG, Nich
olson, Athens.
Mr. Nicholson was oné of the
first to volunteer for army serv
ice during the World War, and ser
ved with distinction in France.

Mrs. W. A. Tolbert Are
Postponed Until Sunday
Due to weather conditions fun
eral services for Mrs. W, A. Tol
beért, 91 year old Madison county
woman, will not be held this aft
ernoon but will be held Sunday
afternoon at 3 o'clock from Union
church. The anpouncement was
made this afternoon by R. E. Car
ter, pastor of the church, who has
charge of services,
Mrs., Tolbert, known as Mrs,
Bally Ann O'Kelley Tolbiyt and
as “Aunt Sally,” was one of
the oldest residents of Madison
county. She died at her home near
Hull Thursday where she had been
confined to her bed for some time.
She is survived by six daugh
ters. Pallbearers will be grand
sons and honorary pallbearerg will
be deacons of Union Baptist
church. M. T. Sanders Funeral
