Help Raise Funds

Junior Assembly fashion shoé on
Mareh 6, it isn't a bit too early to
start getting the style line-up at
your finger tips. But if you
haven't time for research of your
own, the show will be a sort of
illustrated lecture on the Kind of
thing to buy this year.
With Miss Marie McHatton in
charge of staging, the clothes will
be presented in an unusually in
u-roa;ting and attractive way
Models are being selected under
the direction of Mrs. Arthur Grif
rfith, .chairman of the model com
mittee, and her list will include
the most fashionable women of
Athens. The garments to be
shown will be selected by a com
mittee headed by Mrs. Ed Dorsey.
Proceeds from the show will be
used for the support of the As
sembly’s bed at the hospital. The
bed is the first step ‘toward a
child.gen’s ward for the poor chil
dren .of Athens and Clarke
county.

HONORS DAUGHTER
~ ON 7TH BIRTHDAY
Mrs. Luecy Grogan entertained
her daughter, little Sara Frances
(Girogan, Saturday afternoon at her
home, 220 Oakland avenue, with a
birthday party in celebration of
little Frances’ seventh birthday.
A red, white and blue color
scheme prevailed with small red
hatchets on the table. Ice cream
and cake were served, as well as
mints and nuts. Mrs. Marie
Avery and Miss Bess Cauthen
acted as co-hostesses.
Those invited were Jane and
Joan Hartman, Rony Puncan
Howard McWhorter, jr., Rosanne
Beverly, Edith Avery and Martha
Weatherford.

Lend-a-Hand Club Has
Meeting on Wednesday
The Lend-a-Hand club held its
regular meeting Wednesday, the
meeting being opened with prayer
and the- devotional led by Mrs.
Molly Smith.
Several selected songs were
sung in unison.
The Lend-a-Hand members
were glad to be able to aid an
unfortunate family recently and
are planning to give another bas
ket in the near future.
The club was proud to welcome
fwo new members, Mrs. Ola Har
digree and Mrs. Flossie Mathes.
A warm welcome was given the
new members, and the club will
welcome anyone else who joins.
The meeting was adjourned by
Murs, Flora Coty’s prayer.

Garden Club News Items
Announcement is made by the
Vineville Garden club of Macon,
that the Vineville Garden Center
was formally opened January 31,
at the Washington Memorial Libr
ary in Macon. Its purpose is to
provide .a clearing house for gar
'den information and horticultural
experiment. Seven other Macon
clubs are cooperating and the Cen
ter is open during library hours.
It ig attractively furnished with
desk, chairs and book-shelves fill
ed with garden information, file of
horticultural” bulletins, garden ma
gazines, seed and nursery catalo
gues; a place where those interest
ed in horticulture and gardening
may meet. Ag an added attrac
tion, the Center has access to all
books and magazine of the libr
ary.

Y. W. C. A. CALENDAR
The annual meeting of the en
tire membership of the Y, W. C.
A. will be held Monday night,
March 2 at the ¥. W. O A
gymnasium. The public ig invited
to this program planned by the
different clubs of the Y. W, C.!

carired on throughout the year.
At this time new memberg will
be added to the board of directors
and the new officers of the board

The Happy Hour Club staged a
play at the Chase Street Com
munity House on Saturday night
entitled “Advertising for a Hus
band” followed by an amateur

ity House at 3:15 Monday after

its regular supper meeting on
Monday evening at 6:30 at the Y.

tour of several of the leading

Hawaiians, will appear in person
at the Palace theater Monday and
Tuesday.
The program consists of a num
ber of songs ana native dances

sation. Baby Joe, a 5-year-old

The Woman’s Missionary So
ciety will meet Monday afternoon
at 4 o'clock. Mrs. D. B. St. John
will be the principal speaker. Her
subject is “The Sowing of the
Parables.”
All women of the church are
invited to meet 30 minutes before
the regular hour for the meeting
to pray especially for Home Mis
sions. The Society will observe a
special season of prayer for Home
Missions on the first Monday in
March.
