two weeks.
Mr. Lavender was one of Ath
ens' oldest citizens, and had spent|
his entire lifetime as a resident

M. 'D. Watson, manager of Star
Newyg Stand and for the past 39
years a citizen of Athens, today
formally announced as a candidate
for Clarke county Coroner.
Mr. Watson is a brother to the
Jate Poma Watson, former Athens
firé chief. ~He is also a brother
to Colonel J. D. Watson, who
some months ago, gave tha Uni
versity of Georgia a large tract of
Jand at Watson Springs.
‘Mr. Watson is present financial
sécretary of the Athens Woodmen
