: . Meetings
Pleasant dreams and good feel
ing follgwed the increase in our
Sunday's congregations. We
awoke Monday morning ready for
the meeting of preachers at Young
Harris which was called that we
might examine our own hearts
and prepare for a year of great
activity in the Master’s vineyard.
All the talks ‘and matters before
us were good. We felt real proud
of the elder and Brother Acree,
and the splendid luncheon our
ladies of Young Harris had pro
vided for the preachers reminded
us of the way our ladies of Oconee
Sdreet do things when it is their
turn to entertain.
. Hard work, brotherly love, and
an optimistic spirit, yielded fruit
of which the people, the stewards,
and the pastor are proud. It is
said that the January report of
the Oconee board of stewards was
the best many people remember.
The brethren met at the parson
age Monday evening and examin
od the house in which the pastor
lives this year. Come to see us,
and rejoice over the new parson
age.
It was on Tuesday that we gath
ered in the basement for an oys
tér supper. Everybody was happy.
Wednesday, our ladies invited the
pastor to administer the sacra
ment of the Lord's Supper to the
members of the Missionary Se
ciety and to lead a discussion of
the new book, “By the Waters of
Bethesda.” Good _attendance, in
spifip of weather, surprised us.
Thursday, we were with the
young people of the Jamlico Un
jon for a meeting in the church
and a good socizl occasion in the
¢hurch basement. Friday, our
Workers' Council gathered at the
porsonage to consider the prob
lems of the church school. It was
a busy week, but no one who has
had Miss Pattie Hilsman for a
teacher can afford to be a slacker.
- Rev. George E. Stone |
This pastor entered the presence
of Brother Stone on Thursday aft
ernoon with this consciousness:
“The place whereon thou standest
is holy ground.” We want to see
him, with the full vigor of his
soul, stand before one hundradl
men in his class and say exactly
what is in his heart. To that end,
will not Brother Callahan, /!Bro
ther Seagraves, Brother Embry,
Drother Kirk .and Brother Wilson
start immediately (with all the
assisianca they can find) /to secure
such an attendance for this man
of God.

We are glad to welcome Brother
0. O. Pledger into our member
