RIVERS IS UNWORTHY:
Governor Arnall is reported by The Atlanta Constitution as
saying he made E. D. Rivers National Committeeman. That was
in 1944, after Rivers heiped make Arnall Governor, and four
years after Rivers went out of office as Governor. Rivers held
no public office between the time he retired as Gavernor and
the time Arnall says he made him National Committeeman.
When did he become “unworthy”? »
If Rivers is “unworthy of public office” now, as Arnall claims,
was he ot “anwerthy of publie office” when. Arnall made him
National Committeeman? i
If Rivers was “unweorthy” when Arnall made him National
Committeeman, why did Arnall make Rivers National Commit
teeman? Arnall knew Rivers’' record then (1944), as well as he
knows it now. :
If Rivers is “unworthy of public office” now, why did Arnall,
aceording to the Atlanta papers, publicly declare last year
(1945) that Rivers was Georgia's “first modern” Governor?
When did “Good Government” Arnall decide Rivers is “un
worthy of public office”? Was it last January when, as Rivers
charges, Ex-Governor Jim Cox of Ohio ordercd Arnall to betray
his friends and support Carmichael? ' . (Adv.)

ROBERTS ELECTRICAL APPLIANGE GO.
India’s Polifical \
Word From Wavell
NEW DELHI, June 27— (AP)—
Political observers looked toward
Viceroy Lord Wavell today for a
statement-—possibly by the week
end—concerning the formation of
a Caretaker Government to rule
India pending election of a Con
stituernt Assembly.
How long the new Government
will hold the Reins was anyone's
guess, but one highly placed source
pointed out that the results of the
Assembly elections probably will
not be known until the end of
July. /
A statement by the British Cabi
net Mission yesterday indicated
that negotiations with Indian poli
tical leaders for formation of an
Interim Government will not be
resumed until the election returns
are in.
If these negotiations are suc
cessful, the Interim Government
will take over and continue in of
fice until the Constituent Assembly
completes its work of drafting a
Constitution for an Independent
| India.
