ROTARY WHEEL l;
| by SAMWOODS |
|
At the regular weekly luncheon
meeting Wednesday, Retiring Pre
sident Percy L. Huggins expressed
his appreciation for the whole~
hearted cooperation he has receiv
ed during the year from his fel
low Rotarians. |
At the conclusion of his talk, he
was presented with the Past Pre
sident’s emblem by Incoming Pre~
sident Lamar Dodd, who, on behalf
of the club, thanked Mr. Huggins
for the valuable service he had
given during his term of office
and in his previous year as a mem- |
ber.
The program was arranged by‘
A. W. Wier, sr.,, who introduced
Coach Wallace Butts of the Geor
gia Bulldogs.
Coach Butts talked on football
prospects at the University for the
coming season and said that while
he has the best material he has'
had since coming to the University, |
he pointed out that it is entirely
possible for his Bulldogs to loose l
two or three games during the
grid season.
The speaker said that after Ihe|
smoke has cleared away from the
Georgia-Alabama game on Novem
ber ¥ it will be much easier to put
‘things in their true perspective |
and that we will know how really
‘a team Alabama has. At the pre
sent time he feels that Alabama
?ndhL. g U. have the best ""leamsi
\in the Coyiference. And he added
that if Tech g&eps drawing ma
terial as it has recently, his Geor- |
gia boys are ih for a lot of trouble.
Big Ticket Sale | |
Coach Butts announced that re
gardless of the outcome of the
games, the ticket sale is proceed
ing rapidly, and pointed to the
fact that more than $200,000
wo_rtl} of tickets have already been
sold for the five home games.
The Alabama and Tech games
are already virtual sell-outs but
he said that tickets for the Okla
homa A & M game so far have
sold at a disappointing rate, des
pite the fact that in All-America
Bob Fennimore, Oklahoma has one
of the greatest backs in the na
tion.
| In concluding, Coach Butts dis
cussed various players and posi
tions on the team, pointing out
which positions nave been
strengthened and said that some
|o_£ the key positions will probably
be filled with freshman players.
|Bec§luse of this, he said, where
Cgeox;gia will come out of the

Carmichael’s ‘Bandwagon’
Just Won’t Roll!
The Journal-Constitution campaign of deception is having a
hard time trying to get the stalled Carmichael “bandwagon” to
roll.
They are so confused they think the people are confused.
One day they print a story under the name of their chief po
litical writer that all three candidates are “strong.”
The next day they repudiate what they said the previous day
and try to make it appear that Carmichael is winning.
In the beginning they thought that by the weight of their phony
publicity they could make the people believe Carmichael was
running wild, : %
But the people knew the Atlanta dailies could not put over a
synthetic drive for Carmichael. The Carmichael “bandwagon”
just wouldn’t roll, 3
Then the Atlanta Crowd decided that surely Del.acey Allen
would make the Carmichael “bandwagon” roll—just why they
ever thought that DeLacey Allen could help anybody's c?ndl
dacy, no one has been able to figure out . . . Even Talmadge
spewed him out. f
But the Atlanta dailies were desperate, So they had DeLacey
Allen to “come out” for Carmichael and spread it all over their -
front pages. But the Carmichael “bandwagon” refused to budge.
It was stuck hard and fast,
Then they thought that surely “Benedict” Arnall could start °
the Carmichael “bandwagon” to relling. So “Ohio Jjim™ had
“Benedict” Arnall “come out” for Carmichael. And still the
Carmichael “bandwagon” would not roll,
And now the Journal-Constitution publicity puffers have
fished out a Sheriff down in McDuffie county and slammed him
on their front pages as a “Rivers man” who has “switched” to
Carmichael to “beat Talmadge,” %when, as a matter of fact, this
McDuffie Sheriff has been for Carmichael since the day the
rich, Atlanta Crowd. threw Carmichael into the race. And still
the Carmichael- “bandwagon” won’t roll.
The Atlanta Crowd are so rattled now and bumfuzzled they
have gone to counting their pitifully few Carmichael “support
ers” over and over again. They even had Carmichael’'s Cam
paign Manager “come out” for Carmichael. But the Carmichael
“bandwagon” refuses to roll.
The Carmichael “bandwagon” just won't roll because it is
mired in the mud of exposed deception, of Carmichael’'s vote
against Homestead Tax Exemptions, his record as a Pardon
Lawyer, his lobbying for money for the Biz, Out-Of-State Cor
porations against the people’s welfare. And the Carmichael
“bandwagon” never will roll, because the people are not riding
on it.
Ed Rivers is the only Governor that ever gave the people any
thing. Rivers gave them Homestead Exemptions, Old Age Pen
sions, Free School Books, a 7-Months-State-Supported School
Term, Rural Electrification, Soil Conservation BDistricts, and an
Administration that started the Government of Georgia doing
things for the people they could not do for themselves.

Refrigerator Are
Pointing out that an electric
refrigerator is a lglrge financial
investment for most families, Miss
Willie Vie Dowdy, home improve
ment specialist for the State Ag
ricultural Extension Service, to
day urged Georgia families to use
care in selecting a refrigerator.
“Remember thai guality is an
important factor in any household
equipment,” Miss Dowdy said.
“Long established, reputable man-~
ufacturers stand back of their
products.
“Choose a iefrigerator that is
suited to the family’s needs,” the
home improvement specialist ad
vised “The size of the family will
largely determine the size of the
refrigerator to buy. Most families
need at least seven feet but farm
and rural families usually need
more refrigerator space than ur
ban families.” 3
Such special features as hy
drators, adjustable shelves and
frozen food compartments add to
the cost of the refrigerator, she
pointed out. The family’s needs
will determine whether these fea
tures are worth the difference in
price..
“Location of the refrigervator in
the kitchen should be considered
in selection,” Mis Dowdy said.
“The refrigertor should be lo
cated near the food preparation
