Increased Production
Needed By Farmers
| Income per Georgia farm worker
cannot equal the United States
average until production per work
er is on parity with the standard
for the nation,” was the opinion
expressed by Frank King, associ
ate professor of Agricultural
Economics, in a talk Tuesday
‘morning at the College of Agri
culture, the University of Georgia.
He said that while machinery
seems to offer the best solution for
increasing the agricultural output
per farm person, the problems
cannot be completely solved until
there is an increase in crop vields
per acre and higher produciion for
each farm animal.
The economist asserted that the
use of low producing varieties of
crops and poor producing livestock
are among the most obvious weak
nesses of farms in Georgia, and
maintained that with little expense.
and a little thinking the average
farmer c¢an readily fortify these
weak points. |
