died at his,home Wednesday af
ter a short illness. ]
Services are to be held Friday
afternoon at 3 o’clock from Wat
kinsvills Baptist Church, Rev. J.
S. Hayes, pastor of the church,
and Rev. F. E, Jenking pastor of
Watkinsville Methodist Church,
officiating.
Burial wil] be in Watkinsville
cemetery, Bernstein [Funeral
Home in charge of arrangements.
Pall-bearers will be Joe Hillman,
Bill Seif, Boyce Norton, Roy
Crawford, J. P. Norton and John
Norton. -
He is survived by his wife, Mrs.
Beatrice Crawford Norton, two
sons, Harry and Charles Norton;
parents, Mr. and Mrs. L, B. Nor
ton, Watkinsville; sisters, Mrs.
J. C. Self, Athens, and Virginia
Ann Norton, Watkinsville; two
brothers, Dewey Fletcher Norton,
Colbert, and Bubbie L. Norton,
‘Watkinsville.
A native of Banks county, Mr.
Norton had been a resident of
Watkinsville for the past seven
teen years. He was a member of
Watkinsville Baptist church and
had many friends throughout
this section who were saddened
by news of his death.

Dies Today
In Local Hospifal
Mrs. Josephine Thaxton Owens,
widow of the late W. P. Owens,
died today at 10:15 in a local hos
pital. Mrs. Owens was 70 years
old and had been ill for only five
days.
~ Services will be held at the Mc
’Dorman-Bridges chapel on Friday
;afternoon at 1:30. Rev.T. R. Har
vill, pastor of Prince Avenue Bap
tist church, will officiate. Inter
ment will be in the Rose Hill
Cemetery in Macon, Georgia. Nep
hews of the deceased will act as
pall-bearers. McDorman-Bridges
'is in chéirge of arrangements.
Mrs. Owens is survived by a
daughter, Mrs. James Harrison, of
Anniston, Alabama and Macon,
| Georgia; a brother Henry Thaxton,
!of Athens; and a grand daughter,
Joann Harrison of Anniston.
l A native of Oglethorpe county,
Mrs. Owens had resided in Macon,
lfor the past forty years. She was
‘a member of the Baptist church
there and had a large circle of
‘fr'iends who are saddened to learn
lof her death following a short ill
nesq. She has been visiting her
lf.efnfi‘gin Athens since August.

Holtrop dialed police head

Veterans Administration to all
veterans who are drawing sub
sistence allowance from training:
on the job, or otherwise, must be |
completed and returned to: the
Veterans Administration prior to
November 6. 4
If this is not done, it was point
ed out, the subsistence allowance |
will be interrupted until receipt'
of the same, and this includes
interruption of tuition for any
related training.
This applies to all veterans
regardless of whether they are |
receiving above the ceiling or be-‘
low the ceiling.
Veterans are advised they may
receive help in this matter from !
either their local branch of the|
State Veterans Office or from |
a U. S. Veterans Administration

Limits Nuptials
NASHUA, Towa.—(AP)—From
now on if you want to get marl
ried on Sunday at “Little Brown
Church in the Vale” here, you'll
have to get there after 2 p. m.
Church trustees have wvoted
that there will be no more Sun
day rmrriages at .the church,
popular for years for weddings
and subject of a church hymn,
before that hour, thus giving the
Rev. F. L. Hanscom time to hold
his morning services and enjoy
his dinner without interruption.
