NOTICE OF BOND ELECTION
Notice is hereby given to the
qualified voters of Clarke Coun
ty, Georgia, that on Tuesday, the
25th of March, 1947, an election
will be held at all the voting or
election precincts in said County
to determine the question wheth
er bonds to the amount of $50,-
000.00 shall be issued by said
County of Clarke. The proceeds of
said bonds, if issued, to be ap
plied to acquiring, equipping, and
maintaining a public library in
Ciarke County, Georgia.
The said bonds, if issued, shall
be fifty in number, each to be of
the derfomination of $1,000.00 and
to bear interest at the rate of two
percent per annum from the frist
day of July, 1947; said interest
payable semi-annually on the
first day of January and the first
day of July of each éear. The
principal of said bonds is to be‘
paid as follows:
$1,000.00 of said issue, or one
bond, is to be paid on the first
day of January, 1948, and a like
amount of said principal, or one
bond, is to be paid on the first
day of January of each succeed
ing year up to and including the
first day of January in the year
1962.
$2,000.00 of said issue, or two
bonds, is to be paid on the first
day of January in the year 1963,
and a like amount of said prin
cipal, or two bonds, is to be paid
on the first day of January in
each succeeding year up to and
including the first day of Janu
ary in the year 1972. 3
$3,000.00 of said principal, or
three bonds, is to be paid on the
first day of January in the year
1973, and a like amount of said
principal, or three bonds, is to
be paid on the first day of Janu
ary in each succeeding year up to
and including the first day of Jan
uary in the year 1977, so that all
the principal of the entire issue
of said bonds shall be paid off
and ~ discharged within thirty
years. The entire amount of in
terest on said bonds is to be paid
each year as it accrues on said
issue or part of said issue re
maining outstanding from year
to year. Said interest to be. paid
semi-annually on the first day’of
January and the first day of July

up the returns, consolidate the
returns and declare the result.

shows:
1. That petitioners desire for
themselves, their successors and
assigns to be incorporated as a
private corporation under -the
name of “THE VAN CLUB IN
CORPORATED,” such name be
ing derived from the fact, as here
inafter shown, that the corporation
shall be established primarily for
the benefit of Veterans of the
American Navy.
9. The general nature and ob
jects of the proposed corporation
is as foilows:
To promote, foster and sustain
an active interest in all naval af
fairs among former United States
THE BANNER-HERALD, ATHENS, GEORGIA,
Navy personnel, including female
personnel, and not excluding
active naval personnel, by provid
ing facilities fqr social entertain
ment and for such other purposes
as will further the general ob
jectives.
3. Said corporation is not or
ganized for pecuniary gain or pro
fit and shall be without capital
stock. The incorporators herein
shall constitute the first board of
directors and shall remain as such
until such time as provisions are
made through the by-laws for
naming their successors.
4. The corporation shall have
existence for the full period of
thirty-five (35) years, with the
privilege of renewal as provided
by law.
5. The principal office of said
corporation is to be located in Ath
ens, Clarke County, Georgia, with
the right to establish branches
elsewhere within or without the
State of Georgia as the nature of
said corporation may justify or
necessitate.
6. Petitioners desire that the
said corporation have the power
to receive donations; to buy and
sell, acquire, own, hold, rent, lease,
transfer. and assign both real
estate and personal property of
every kind and character, all for
the benefit of the members of the
VAN CLUB, and to deal with the
same in any way that may seem
expedient for the benefit of the
members of the VAN CLUB and
which may be suitable to accom
plish the general purposes and
objects of the said corporation.
Petitioners desire, as well, that
said corporation have all the
rights, powers and privileges con
ferred on corporations generally
by-that Act of the General As
sembly of Georgia, approved Jan
uary 28,,1938, commonly known
as the Corporation Act of 1938,
and all the powers, rights and
privileges enumerated in sections
22-1827 and 22-1870 of the Code
of Georgia of 1933 and the powers
and privileges ‘- enumerated in
Chapters .22-18 and 22-19 of said
Code of Georgia. All the powers
and privileges enumerated in the
above cited acts, code sections and
code chapters are made a part
hereof to the same extent as if
the same were quoted herein.
Wherefore, petitioners pray that
they be incorporated under the
name above stated and that a
charter be granted to them, and
that said corporation shall have
all the rights, powers, privileges,
and immunities herein prayed for,
and such others as are now or
may hereafter be authorized by
