We have had very good at

only among the boys. They have
only five absences this month.
| Our class is divided into two
|eqaul groups of boys and girls;
the group aaving the fewest ab

enq of each month with a lunch
eon party, ice cream, or other
eats by tae defeated group.
We are continuing the study
of decimals in arithmetic, dnd in
social studies we are reviewing
{for a test on Russia and Com
munism. We are writing biogra
‘phics on Benjamin H. Hill, Rob
ert E. Lee, and Stonewall Jack
son in our English.
We had a review in spelling
'Friday and made very good
grades,
I In our art we are drawing
scenes, fruits, vegetables ete. We
jare also trying to d.aw Gencral
lee and Jackson on horzeback
for our bulletin board for Mem
orial Day. We have some nice
drawing on our board featuring
George Washington riding his
mother’s fine colt, cutting down
the cherry tree, also bunches of
cherries and hatchets and sil=
houettes in color of red, white
and blue. We have some figures of
Washington drilling and march
ing his school friends which he
always liked to do very much.
He wag always inclined toward
military affairs and showed great
fability as a leader.
" Mrs. Hopper’s Group
l We enjoy having Mrs. Ison
come to us every Monday. We
have been studying the different
lmusical instruments in a band.
We have many pictures on our
!bulletin board of the different
| instruments which we have
]found in magazines, Weyman
!Dautzler drew a lovely picture of
' a musica] director, directing a
i band.
From our class, we have sev
)eral children who have entered
pictures in the Art Exhibit at
rthe University of Georgia. .
i Mrs. Huston’s Class
- Since we are studying Holland
“we cut out windmills anq bow!s
of tulips from colored paper for
our bulletin board. We also wrote
Duteh stories for the bulletin
board in the hall, In these we
drew tiny pictures between the
senfences. Sometimes these plc
fures took the place of words.
Tuesday we learned how to
make written book reports. We
made a report on one of tae li
brary books we had read. ‘
Elise brought some daffodils to
school thig week. We are learn
ing part of William Wordsworth’s
poem, “The Daffodils.”
Mr. Grier visited us Wednes

CHARLES DOSTER.
PEGGY STEPHENS.

Miss Ellice Wood's Class
We are changing our writing

It is about a little girl named
Nancy and a boy named Bob.
Willie Faye was sick two days
this week. We were sorry she
was sick. We misseq her,
Mrs. AlMan’s Class
We read a story, *“Telling
Time.” Mrs. Allan let us draw
some clocks. Then we' figured
the time on each.
We 'aope we can soon learn to
tell time.
Mrs. Keener’'s Class
Did you ever play “Skip and
Stoop?” This is #ae favorite in
door game of the Kkindergarten.
The children skip around in a
circle while the teacher plays a
merry tune on the piano, Sud
denly , tae music stops, and that
is the signal for every one to
stoop, until it starts agaio, Those
who fail to stoop must leave the
game. This is repeateq until but
one child is left, and this win
ner is rewarded by being allowed
to skip alone while the losers
look on. Sandra Brock is often
{le winner in this game “How
does this happen?” was asked the
class. A five-year old promptly
replied: “Because Sandra always
listens to the teacher.” Now, just
why doesn’t everybody listen to
the teacher.
