Get Only 7 Hits
ATLANTA, May 17—
(AP) — The University of
Georgia baseball team
trounced Georgia Tech 11
to 2 here today to even their
series at one each. Tech
won the Friday game in
Athens, 6-4.
Lefthander Dick Miles allowed
the Jackets seven hits, one of
which, a triple by Red Schoen
ing in the fourth inning, resulted
in the only Tech scores.
Miles was in control then un
til the ninth, when he faltered
but pulled through with the aid
of good fielding.
Chub Jenkins sent two whist
ling triples into the outer pasture,
giving Georgia five of their runs,
including his own pair.
In the ninth Billy Henderson,
Bulldog right fielder, drew a
walk off Tech pitcher Dick Mc-
Millan, stole second, then third,
and came home on Jenkins' sec
ond triple.
LOSE FRIDAY
The Bulldogs gave hopes for a
win in their half of the eighth
here Friday when they staged a
rally that finally fell short by
two runs, Tommy Jordan, after
singling, ,was batted in by Chub
Jenking’ double and Morton
Smith singled Jenkins home,. |
Big Harry Kalb, Tech hurler,
kept 10 Georgia hits well-scat
tered as the Engineers collected
11 themselves. Billy Henderson
and Tommy Jordan, Georgia out
fielders, paced the Bulldog attack
with two for five and two for
four, respectively. Henderson
blasted one over the right field
fence in the fifth, after Rabbit
Jordan, Tech centerfielder, had
rounded the bases on a ‘“cheap”
circuit clout that took a bad hop
in front of Jordan in left field.
Rob Callahan was charged
with the loss.

Walton Mills Starters
For Walton Mills, the starter’s
are Lamar Bagwell at first, “Red”
Mosley second; Joe Bolton, third;
Claude Bagwell, shortstop; Mill
iard’ Brooks or Rob Mosley, right
field; Calvin Scott, left field and
Garland Peters centerfield.
This game takes the spotlight of
today’s encounters, as both teams
are regarded as “most likely to
dump Whitehall. “Walton Mills
muffed their first chance at Mon
roe on opening day, but will have
a second chance at it in Whitehall
the last day of the first half, June
22.” Athens gets their only chance
of the first half here next Sun
SUNDAY, MAY 18, 1947,
day on Ag Hill at three o’clock.
Whitehall, defénding champion,
lays its unblemished record on the
line for Mallison-Braided Cord
this afternoon. Probable batteries
in this contest are Fred Ducey on
the mound for Mallison-Braided
and Jimmy Hale catching. For
Whitehall, it will probably be
Chappelle Tate hurling Ralph Rob
erts or J. B. Ruark catching.
Winder, winners by the enor
mous score of 31-6 over Mallison-
Braided last Sunday, moves out of
home territory once more as they
engage Nicholson there. Ray Kil
gore will go to the hill for Otis
'Anderson’s nine, while Hutchins
Coleman will pitch to Cotton
'Ritchie for Nicholson.
In the remaining tilt Watkins
ville, losers to Athens by a score
‘of 10-6 last Sunday, stays at home
| again as they tangle with Statham.
lßoth have one victory to their
credit.
