ternational Convention in San
Francisco, reached this city Tues
dsv and had breaktast with the
Alabama delegation at the Roos
evelt Hotel
in the Athens de'egation are
Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Benson, Gus
and Brant Dozier, Dr. and Mrs.
Walker Matthews, Mrs. E. L.
Wier, Miss Frances Talmadge,
Mrs. Walter McLendon and dau
ghter, the writer and Mrs.
Woods.
We all toured the city visiting
the old French Quaiter, Cabildo,
St. Louis Cathedral and many
other points of interest.
The next sight-seeing will be
done in San Antonio, Texas, and

Christian Church on Monday,
IJunP 2, 1947.
Mr. Strickland died at the
| Commerce Hospital on May 31,
‘1947 as a result of heart trouble.

High School Seniors
Of Eatonfon, Monroe
Make Four-Day Trip
Eatonton and Monroe Senior
High School students are scheduled
to arrive in Athens Friday night
from a four-day sightseeing trip
which took them to Washington,
D. C., Maryland, and Virgmia.
The group of thirty-three
Eatonton and thirty-seven Monroe
students left Athens Monday night
aboard the new Seaboard Silver
Comet streamliner for Williams
burg and Norfolk, Virginia.
Changing there to boat, they were
to travel on Old Bay Line to Balti~
more, and Annapolis and back to
Washington.
A three-day tour of the Capital
City was planned to include the
Capitol Building, Smithsonian In
stitute, museums, and all the
places of interest for the new high
school graduates,
The tour was planned and spon
sored by the seniors themselves,
They engaged in a number of acti
vities during the year to raise
funds to make the trip possible.
Traveling with the group are:
