Dennis suspended Williams a

by the Association’s Beard of
Managers. The Association presi
dent moved that GPA by-laws
be amended, reducing dthe office
staff in Atlanta to a -boekkeeper.
He also proposed ‘that the of
fice discontinue mailing of pub
heity matter to member newspa
pers and eliminate the clipping
service. He said the Association
now has a revolvi fund of
more than $7,000 &a’o longer
needs these activities as revenue

Dennis recommended : election
of a non-paid secretary to re
place Villiams. Without. a tield
secretary, he said, the Associa
tion would have an' 'annual in
come of more than $3,000 a year
dfrom business that just comes

to operate on this.
“We must return_te; being a
fraternal organization instead of
a big business,” Dennis tolq the
convention. Under ithe present
set-up, he said, the GPA is “big
business,” with the “‘tail -wagging
the dog.”
Some 300 newspapermen were
in attendance as the convention
opened its first session.

on the Paraguayan border Ilast
night that insurgent forces had en
tered Asuncion and were fighting
in several parts of the city with
the help of residents.
(The agency said the revolu
tionists defeated a government
regiment stationed near the capi
tal and captured 200 machineguns,
mortars and other weapons. It
reported that President Higirio
Morinigo’s followers were de

SEVEN INJURED
OCALA, Fla., Aug. 7.—(AP)—
Seven persons were injured, three
of them seriously enough to be
admitted to the hospital, in a
highway accident at Belleview
today in which a tractor-trailer
and two automobiles were in
volved.

Ga.; his sister, Nancy Lee Wiley,
8, and Mrs. W. F. Dixon, 54, of
Union Springs, Ala.
Others who suffered cuts and
bruises are Mrs. Lee Wiley, 40,
and her sons, Gary, 2, and Jim
mie, 14, and a daughter, Johnnie,

mill here in the near future.

NEW SPOOL MILL
ALBANY, Ga., Aug. 7.—(AP)
—A spool mill being erected here
at a cost of haif a million dol
lars will use about $675,000
worth of scuthwest Georgia lum
ber weekly, George LeGoff, gen
eral manager, announced.
One shift will be operated at
first, employing about 75 persons
with a weekly payroll of about
$5,000. LeGoff said these figures
would be tripled with inaugura
tion of three shifts. \
A dozen spool making machines
will be used in processing Tupelo
lumber. Arthur Tyson, Albany
lumberman, holds a two year con
tract with the company to sup
ply its lumber. ‘
