GAME TO START
AT 7 O°CLOCK
The downtown signal
callers have given the
“White” team an edge be
cause of its rugged first
string lineup in the annual
G-Day football affair here
Saturday night.
The “Whites” and ‘“Reds,” two
hand-picked teams of Bulldogs,
square off at seven o'clock in
Sanford Stadium in the climax
to an all-day sports calendar.
Johnny Rauch and Billy Hod
ges, senior quarterbacks, will
captain the two teams and
Rauch’s team draws the infor
mal nod because of its superior
first-line strength. However,
“Red” depth could easily spell
the downfall of the crimson
clads.
Rauch’s squad will probably
lead with Weyman Sellers and
Gene Lorendo at ends, Jack
Bush and Porter Payne at
tackles, Homer Hobbs and Ber
nie Reid at guards, and Gerry
Deleski at center. Rauch will be
at quarterback, with Lukie
Brunson at left halfback, Floyd
Reid at right and Al Bodine or
Joe Geri at full.
Probable starters for Hodges’
eleven will include Gene Chan
dler and Mike Merola at ends,
Nick Feher and Carl George at
tackles, Tommy Pope and Henry
Love at guards, and, Steve Ver
narsky at center. Hodges handles
the under-the-center slot, with‘
Bob Walter and John Donaldson
probably at the halves. John Til
litski or Joe Geri will lead at
full, since Geri is playing for
both teams, along with Art An
tonelli, Ray Prosperi and Chuck
Magoni..
