. Mr. Henson moved to Athens
whén he was six months-add
from Winder. He attended Ath
ens city schools, graduating from
Athens High in 1937.
He attended Georgia Tech
and later entered business with
his father and travelled for the
firm for four years.
| Mr. Henson was in the Air
1 Corps reserve at the out-break of
the war and he served in this
capacity during the war.
He joined ®an fmerican Air
ways as a p"™¥ and in Decem
ber of last yéar he was award
ed his Five Year Gold Pin by
{the Atlantic Division of Pan-
American Airways.
He had flown some of the
world’s best Known messs and
was assigned to &lgt the second
plane of the sevelt party
when the famed Terehan con
ference was held. He has also
flown other outstanding states
men not only of our government
| but also of the other allied gov
ernments,
Mr. Henson was associated
with two other Athens pilots who
are connected with Pan-Ameri
can. They are Hugh Gordon, jr.
and Llord Florence.
