Forest Fire
In Louisiana
ALEXANDRIA, La.,, Aug. 13—
(AP) — Six thousand acres of
forest in isolated spets of Rapides
Parish are alizze, but so far no
communities are in danger, for
estry officials report,
State Forester James Mixon
seid yesterday the largest fire
was among 2,000 acres of virgin
timber near Flatwood.
C. R. Burman of the Léuisiana
Forestry Commission said fire
fighting is gaining control over
five or six big blazes, but that
five smaller fires have broken
out.

The Vice Consul said last night
'that Mrs. Kosenkina had left a
note at the consulate for Loma
kin, but he T not divulge the
contents.
When the teacher leaped and
landed in a courtyard police on
guard outside the Consulate
climbed a fence to help her,
consulate employes carried her
inside as she moaned “leave me
alone.” She was taken to the hos
pital 40 minutes later. Police
radio orders cleared the streets
for the ambulance frip.
The Consul General told po
lice that the teacher jumped or
fell from the window after hear
ing a radio broadcast about the
struggle for her custody. He said
Mrs. Kosenkina, whom the House
committee on un-American Ac
tivities would like to question
had not been hold at the Con
sulate agains her will.
Mrs. Kosenkina is a Soviel
citizen, the Vice Consul said, and
“we wint to take care of her
and we are responsible for her.”
He said the Consul General
would inform the Soviet Ambas
sador of their inability to see
Mrs. Kosenkina at the hospital,
and that the matter might be
put up to the U. S. State Depart
ment.
