Of interest in Athens is the
marriage of Miss Louise Waggon
er, daughter of Mrs. B. E. Bird
song, to Mr. Thomas Calvin Mec-
Gahee, son of Mr. and Mrs. C. M.
McGahee of Athens. The ceremony
was solemnized on August 14 by
Rev. A. E. Ertzberger in Hart
well. :
Miss Waggoner attended Ath
ens High School and has been
well known in beauty work for
several years.
Mr. McGahee also attendeq Ath
ens High School, later serving in
the Army Air Corps for four
years. He is now connected with
the city police force.
Mr. and Mrs. McGahee will
make their home in Athens.

Series of Parties
Miss Goodson has been delight
fully entertained with a series of
showers in Atlanta, and her sister,
Mrs, Polk Gholston of Comer en
tertained with an elaborate en
gagement tea.
A rehearsal perty will consist of
dinner for all the attendants at
the “Three Keys” restaurant in
Atlanta, followed by a dance at
the Paradise Room of the Henry
Grady Hotel. Following the cere
mony the couple will leave on a
two weeks honeymoon *
Briday Shower
A bridal shower was given on
Thursday, August 19, in honor of
the bride at the home of Mrs.
Donald E. LaFave on Best Drive,
with Mrs. Ed Yow as co-hos
tess.
Lovely arrangements of sum
mer flowers were used in the liv
ing room. The dining table was
covered with a lovely lace cloth
and centered with a handsome
arrangement of yellow dahlias.
During the evening bridal games
were played, gifts presented and
refreshients served.
