Begins Advancement Move
~ Explorer Post No. 2, sponsored
by the Athens Rotary Club, has
an advancement movement on to
day. The members at the meeting
Thursday night decided to have
compulsory advancement between
each advancement meeting.
The Post decided to have an ad
vancement meeting once every
two months and have the other
three meetings as business and
program affairs.
Each Explorer Scout under the
new ruling of the Post will be re
quired to pass two tests on a rank,
preferably an Explorer Scout
rank, or a merit badge or similar
badge between the advancement
meetings. ]
Also advancement contest will
beheld. The Post decided to keep
complete records on each boy’s
advancement from the time he
entered Cub Scouting or Boy
Scouting on through his Explorer
Scout career. 4
It was decided to have the next
meeting on November 18 at Oco
nee Textile Mills at Whitehall. E.
C. Getzman, manager, is chairman
of the Post committee and he of
fered to show the members
through the mills as the program
for that meeting.

STRUCTURAL SAFEGUARDS
Four structural safeguards
which need special consideration
in home building" are: Properly
installed heating system, fire.
resistant roofing, wiring systems
that meet specifications of the
national electric code and safely
built chimneys.
- GLASS COOKING UTENSILS
| Glass cooking utensils should
be thoroughiy dry no the outside
when they are placed on the
stove. Even a few drops of water
on the outside may cause uneven
heating which will result i,
‘cracking or breaking.
Glass snakes are really legless
lizards.
