The bride elect is a graduate of
Seminole High School, and after
wards attended Georgia State Col
lege for Women in Valdosta and

of a daughter on Sunday, Novem
ber 7, in Madison, Wisconsin. The
baby has been named Ann
Singleton for both grandmothers.

He was in the United States Army
for one and one half years before
entering the University of Geor
gia.
In January 1949, he will enter
Hemphill Diesel School in Mem

Spending Week
At Maxwell Field
Dr. Merritt B. Pound left Sun
day by military airplane for the
Air University at Maxwell Field,
Alabama, where he will remain for
a week. He will serve as a consul
tant with the Air Force Academy

Arts Museum
Will Open Tonight
Tonight marks the official
opening of the first galleries of the
University of Georgia’s new Mu
seum of Fine Arts. An elaborate
reception for Southern art notaries
and a showing of some of the na
tion’s most honored paintings will
be held beginning at 8:30 o’clock. ‘
One gallery was created to
house the Eva Underhill Holbrook
Memorial Collection, given to the
University by Alfred H. Holbrook
in 1945. The galleries are located
on the ground floor of the Uni
versity General Library Building,
