Dog Poisoners

Four Vietims
The dog poisoners are at it again.
For some months there has been
a let-up in the activities of those
who callously destroy pet animals
for no apparent reason, but in the
past week four dogs have been
poisoned, all of them in one sec
tion of the city. i
All of the poisoned dogs were
the pets of children and the pa
rents of the youngsters believei
poisoned food was tossed into the'
yards where the dogs lived; since,
they were not in the habit of
straying.
A beautiful, highly-bred and
valuable Collie owned by Johnny
and Ernie Mitchell, Hampton
Court, was among the victims. At
the Veterinary Hospital of the
University, it was said the dog
had been given strychnine. He
was valued at more than S2OO. |
A toy terrier, owned by Harry
Stephens, South View Drive; a
pet owned by George Jones, also
of South View Drive, and one
owned by Linda Hodgkinson, a
third South View Drive resident,
were the other victims so far re
ported.
It is said that pet owners in
various parts of the city are con
sidering forming a protective club
and raising a fund to bring in a
private detective with the view to
’obtaining evidence against the
lguilly parties and prosecuting.
' The hair of the average person
grows about half an inch a month.
