Miss Wood’s Class
. We have been watching a little
squirrel who lives in a treé out
side our school window. Some=-
times he runs up the tree carry
ing nuts. He puts them in a hol
low in the tree. He will eat them
later on.
There is a big nest high up in
the tree. We think that it is the
squirrel’s home.
We sing—
“ Frisky, brisky, hippity hop,
U% he goes to the tall tree top;
Whirley, twirley, round and
round,
Down he scampers to the ground.”

We like our story books. We!
have more than one hundred in
our own little library in our room.
Of course we use books out of our,
big school library, too, but we en
joy our own books most. Some
times we like to carry them about
tucked under our arms and we
ask Mrs. Keener to read our fav
orite ones over and over again. We
always have clean hands and turn
the pages carefully. When we
have finished handling them and
looking at the pretty pictures, we
place them back between the
book-ends or put them back on
our library table where we found
them. Mrs. Keener tells us stories
and reads us stories too.
Jacquelin Daniel brought two of
her favorite story books to school
Wednesday. One was “Noah’s
Ark” the other one was “Poor
Kitty.” We liked them very much.
| Mrs. Saye’s Class
Wednesday we got our first re

them. Some of us are going to
‘work harder so that we can have
better report cards next quarter.
~ Mrs. Mackey came to see us
Friday. We went over to church
and she told us a Thanksgiving
story. We enjoy Mrs. Mackey’s
stories.
. We had one hundred per cent

Billy was a little boy. He did

Once when Billy was sick they

loved his canary. After that he
loved all birds. ;
Miss Hancock’s Class
We had a meeting of our Good
Citizenship Club. Danny Poole,
president, presided. We opened
our club by singing one verse of
“America.,” Patsy Hawkins, sec
retary, called the roll. Each one
of us answered by saying a rule of
good citizenship. Each one of us
wrote a paper on ‘“How to Be a
Good Citizen at School.” Here are
some of the things we wrote: A
good citizen always takes care of
books. A good citizen is kind and
polite. A good citizen always
can. We have a very good school
library and we hope to have some
new books soon. We are also plan
ning to go to the Athens Regional
Library often and read the fine
new books. Four of our boys,
Tommy Findley, James Wyatt,
John Williams and Edward Han
son, visited the Library 2 Tuesday
and heard Miss Marion Bloomfield
tell stories.
We are looking' forward to
Thanksgiving Day this week. One
thing we are thankful for is the
goot hot lunch we enjoy each day
at school.
Our reports were given out last
week and we feel happy that we
are making progress in our work.

November 14-20 was National
Book Week. We observed it. Dur
ing our library périod we each se
lected a book to read and made a
report on it. Some of the reports
were very good and were given
in such manner that others de
cided they should like to read
books reported on which they had
read. In giving our reports we
were careful to learn the name of
the author as well a the title for
this will help us in selecting other
books we like. \
We saw a very interesting movie
this week — “The Passenger
Train.” The movie showed the
various experiences of Ya\ trip by
train from the purchasing of the
ticket at the station to the desti
nation, including . dining and
slooping on the train. It also show
ed some safety measures.
Mrs. Hopper’s Class
Last week our tests were very
good. We weer proud of them. We
made pretty covers for our tests
and we weer very glad to carry
them home. Carlton James, idelen
Escoe, and Carl Bowen had the
most original booklet covers.
We have made many pretty
scenes pertaining to the Pilgrims
and Thanksgiving,
- Miss Hancock invited us to see
the very interesting picture of
“Greece.” We will study Greece
next year. We were happy to learn
something of the people, their
homes, habits and living, and ani
male.
Our attendance for the week
was perfect. Our teacher and
principal are proud of our at
tendance and the,work we are
doing. We got a gold star.
Mr. Avers came to see us re
cently. We appreciated his kind
remarks about our work and room.
We are learning many Christ

boys can sing well enough to sing
with the other boys of the city at

In Social Studies we have been
studying Rome for the past week.
We have learned that it was the
mightiest Mediterranean Empire.
The first settlement at Rome
was on a hill but gradually the
city grew until it occupied ‘seven
hills and the lower ‘ground be
tween them. We have read also
about Aeneas, the Roman Consuls,
the patricians, plebeians, the sen
ate, forum, tribunes and their im
portance in the history of Rome.
In English we are studying com
parisons of adjectives—the posi
tive degree, comparative degree,
and superlative degree and are
using them in sentences.
According to our nine weeks
tests and daily lessons, the follow
ing pupils in our class made the
