Warren Weston To Wed. Dec. 1]
Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Swi
sher of Gypsom, Kansas, an
nounce the engagement of their
daughter, ~Geneva, to Warren
weston, of Athens, Georgia, the
wedding to occur December 11,
in Denver, Colorado. ‘
The bride-elect is a graduate
of Gypsom High School, served
quring World War II as a Navy
WAVE, and is now a junior in
the University of Denver.
Mr. Weston is the only son of
the late Walter Lawrence Wes
ton, Harvard, 'O7, and Moselle
geudder Weston of Athens, Geor
gla. i
" puring his residence in New
England, he attended East Prov
idence Country Day' School and
later graduated from the Athens
High School.
He received his A. B. in Jour
nalism from the University of
Georgia in June of 1941 and was
accepted for Navy training just
before Pearl Harbor. After be
ing commissioned on the U. S. S.
Prairie State, New York, he saw
cervice on three ships, the U. S,
S. Ariel. the U. 8. 8. Rotanin and
the U. S. 8. Mcßae.
Receiving his honorable dis
charge he went on a survey mis
sion to the Aretic outside of
Point Barrow, Alaska, where he
spent two years. At present he is
completing his Political Science
decree at the University of Den
ver,

to Sgt. John Wesley Roberts of
Atlanta. The wedding was perfor
med at a quiet ceremony in La-
Fayette, on Nov. 12 in the pres
ence of a few close friends.
A small reception was hold at
the home of Miss Sammier
Pledger at LaFayette, who was
the bride’s maid-of-honor.

To Be Featured
Tuesday Over WRFC
Station WRFC will feature rep
resentatives from the Junior Red
Cross on Tuesday morning, 9:45

Katherine Soule and Hal Heck
man are to discuss the Junior
Red Cross Christmas program
for the veterans in the mental
hospital at Augusta.
They will bring a message from
the patients both to the Junior
Red Cross and to Athens and
Clarke county communities. Be
sure to listen in and hear this
broadcast.
