. We asked if it would be all
right if we'd come back to din
ner. She gaid certainly She's anon
to everybody, transients as well as
her regulars. But those who pop
in bhave to wait till they can be
seated. The regulars, the working
people, have to eat and get back
to their jobs,
At 11:45 we returned. Twenty
minutes later her regular board
e¢rs came rushing up from all di
rections—clerks and shopkeepers,
ekilled workmen, girls and women
from a nearby dress-manufactur
ing plant, truck drivers.
We waited for “second tabie,”
and were a bit apprehensive, All
those eating at the first table look~
ed weil fed. There might not be
tnuch left for us. The food was
put on the tables in big platters
and each person helped himself.
When our turn ecame, though,
we found our fears were un
founded. Aunt May and Mrs. Car
olyn Jonés, 2 neighbor who helps
serve, took the almost empty plat
ters to the kitchen and came back
with steaming refills. And here’s

! A native of Madison county, Lt.
Eberhart lived in that community
jail of his life until he enteved the
| service, joining the U. S. Air
| Force in February of 1943.
! He completed Colbert High
School in 1940 and took a course
| in airplane mechanic in Nashville,
Tenn., and was then employed by
the Douglas Aircraft Corporation
in California before going into
| service: .
He graduated as a pilot at
Moody . Field and hdd served for
five months overseas when he was
killed in an emergency landing re
| tarning with the 15th Air Force
| from a bombing mission off the
coast of Yugoslavia. The full crew
of the plane, with the exception of
one member was killed and buried
at Bari, Italy.
