Cleo Jane, to Mr. James Henry
Pitts, jr,, 'of Cordele, Ga., the
marriage having been solemnized
at Prince Avenue Baptist Church
Tuesday, December 21, at high
noon. The pastor, Rev. T. R.
Harvill, officiated.
Mrs. Pitts was given in mar
riage by her brother, Joe Webb,
jr.,, and Mahlon Turton, jr., of
Cordele was best man.
Miss Louise Ogletree of Athens,
was maid of honor, and Earl
Lewis of Warrenton, and Ben
McCree, Athens, served as ushers.
The candles at the altar were

The bride was lovely in a suit
‘'of pink wool with brown acces
sories and wore a shoulder cor
sage of white orchids.
Foilowing -the ceremony the
bride’s mother entertained at a
lovely reception at her home.
Mrs. J. _E. Webb, of Elberton,
grandmother of the bride, and
Mrs. W. S. Adamson, of "Atlania,
the bride’s aunt, assisted in serv
ing. The bride’s book was kept
by Mrs. Price Evans, of Athens.
Immediately following the re-
ception the couple left on a wed
ding trip.
Mrs. Pitts is a native of Ath
ens and a graduate of Athens
High School and Athens Busi
ness College and was formerly
employed at Georgia School of
Technology. She is descended
from family lines long prominent
in Elbert and Walton counties
and this section of the state.
The groom is a native of Cor
dele and graduated from Cordele
High School and the University
of Georgia Law School. He is
now connected with Crawford &
Company in Macon.
On their return, Mr. and Mrs.
Pitts will make their home on
Cherry street in Macon.
Out-of-town guests were Mr.
and Mrs., J. E., Webb, Mrs. Ar
nold Oglesby, of Elberton; Mr.
and Mrs. W, C. Adamson, of At
lanta; Mrs. J. H. Pitts, sr,, and
Miss Joan Pitts, of Cordele.

BARBARA METTLER DANCE GROUP
Barbara Mettler Dance Group To
Perform Here On January Tenth
Forty-eight dance photographs
showing the creative work of the
Barbara Mettler Dance Group
will be exhibited at the Georgia
Museum of Art for two weeks be
ginning January 5. The’ exhibit,
arranged by Alfred Holbrook, cu
rator of the Museim, will be shown
in conjunction with a dance per
formance by the Mettler Group to
be given in the Fine Arts audi
torium of the University campus
January 10 at 8:15 in the evening.
Barbara Mettler, director of the
group of men and women dancers
|and head of the Mettler Farm
Studios of Dance in Franklin, New
Hampshire, is an active and signi
ficant figure in creative dance
bringing to her work' experience
|in performance, teaching, and
iwriting. This will: be 'Miss Mett
ler’s second wvisit to the University
of Georgia. In May 1947 she came
{to the campus as guest teacher in
.dance at which time she gave a
'series of stimulating llessons to
‘dance students and faculty mem
{bers. For the January 10 per
iformance Miss Mettler will be as
isisted by Gene Forrell of New
’lYork City who is composer and
music director for the group.

Four Club Sunday evening at 6
o’clock at the home of Mrs. R, H.
Bickerstaff on Cloverhurst avenue.
'~ The club was organized in 1946
as a special football car called
Georgia Four, going to the Sugar
Bowl game in New Orleans.
This year the club plans to at
tend the football game in the
Orange Bowl in Miami on New
Year’s Day.
Christmas colors of green and
white, accented with red, made a
cheerful Christmas setting in the
living room.
The dining room carried out the
Christmas combination of silver
and blue.
Colors of the two Universities
to take part in. the game were
used in a conversational dining
table arrangement.
This consisted of a football in a
silver bowl, banked with oranges
and orange blossems.

ments of Creative Dance, is spon
sored by the Department of Physi
cal Education of the University of
Georgia. Head of the Department
is Mrs. Mary-Ella Soule. Tickets
will be on sale after January 2 at
$1.25 for adults and .75 for chil
dren. Those attending the per
| formance are especially invited to

The goal posts were made of
ribbons of orange and white for
Texas and red and black for Geor
gia, by tieing the silver candle
‘holders together. A miniature
pair of Texas boots and a Georgia
Bulldog were placed at the re
spective goal lines. A large mirror
;reflecte'd the football field.

dition to the club members, who
